Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly, and you may be wondering what should we do for date night? Well… Here are a few options for all types of couples! Competitive, stay at home, outdoorsy, romantic, or just ladies/ guys night we have ideas for all!
For the competitive couple, we understand that a great competition brings you and your loved ones together, or maybe not. None the less we know you love a great rivalry. Here is how we would suggest spending the day. Start off by grabbing a cup of coffee to fuel you through the day! We recommend checking out Underground Cafe & Coffee House. After you have woken up your brain it’s time to put that thing to use and head over to Unlocked: Escape Room Wooster and enjoy testing your problem solving with a good puzzle. Whoever solves the most clues gets to pick dinner. We would definitely recommend the Olde Jaol In Wooster, Ohio. The Olde Jaol has three different restaurants to choose from, including a pool table and dart board in the prohibition room to keep the competitive fun alive! Enjoy drinks and games to finish out your Valentine’s Date!
Maybe take out is more your thing. Something about staying home with a good movie, your favorite blankets, and your significant other that really makes the perfect Valentine’s Day for you. We have everything you need for your night in. First make sure to swing by Buehler’s Fresh Foods and pick up a few of your favorite bottles of local wine to enjoy throughout the evening. You also will want to grab some dinner on your trip out of the house. Basil has great takeout, and who doesn't love Asian food on a night in? Just simply call ahead, place your order, and pick it up at the front counter. We all know that no night-in is complete without snacks! Head over to the Oak Cupboard in Smithville and grab a few goodies to either bake, or snack on. So now we have dinner, drinks, and snacks. The last thing we need is an activity! Toyrifix in Smithville has a great selection of puzzles to pick from, and a few games! If you're more movie type of people, head home and flip on your favorite movie platform and queue up the snacks, dinner, and a glass or wine of two!
If the outdoors more suits your relationship, we have you covered so don't worry! The Carpenters Cup has delicious coffee, and is close to the Johnson Woods State Nature Preserve which is located in Marshallville. Grab a cup of joe, and stroll through the woods on this beautiful pathway! There are many other parks in Wayne County that you can hop around to as well if Johnson’s just isn't enough outdoor time for you. After your walk, head over to Omahoma Bob’s BBQ for an excellent pulled pork sandwich, ribs, or whatever fits you! They have the most outstanding BBQ in the area, and you will definitely visit again. After dinner if the weather is nice head over to JAFB and grab a D.O.R.A drink and stoll downtown, grab a table, and enjoy the evening and people watch a bit.
There is nothing wrong with celebrating Valentine’s Day with a classic Valentine’s Date either! Start off by visiting your local florist because every good Valentine’s day starts with flowers. Com-Patt-ibles Flower and Gifts is a great stop to get a small gift for your date. Make sure you make reservations in advance for your dinner to ensure a minimal wait when you arrive! City Square, Broken Rocks, The Leaf, and The Olde Jaol are some classic choices in Wooster, Ohio. You can also check out The Pines, TJ’s, and many others! There is no doubt that Wooster restaurants will be busy on Valentine’s day night and weekend! Enjoy a wonderful meal at any of these restaurants, and afterwards head over to Grigio cocktail bar and finish off the evening with a fantastic cocktail, glass of wine, or bourbon.
Single on Valentine’s Day? That's ok! You can spend the day with your friends! One of my favorite ways to spend the day with my friends always starts with coffee or brunch and ends with shopping or wineries! Lucky for you Wayne County has it all! One great option that is always a fun time is Tulipan downtown Wooster. This shop has nothing less than amazing coffee. They have a variety of flavored coffee that you can order in a flight of 3 samplers, and pastries on the side! Once you have finished off your delightful coffee and conversation, you can head over to The Leaf to keep on theme with the flights and pick up a muffin flight! Try a few different flavors, or order to share! While you're there check out the brunch menu and grab yourself a Mimosa, or Blood Mary to kick off Galentine’s Day! Spend your day shopping downtown and enjoying the evening with your “Gal’s”!
